We know what a few dollars, volunteers and energy can accomplish to motivate and enhance a child’s self esteem, discipline and a positive personal belief system. We all realize how much Tiger Woods has done to inspire youth, but facing the truth; Inspiration does not pay for equipment and access to courses and ranges.
In 2006 we successfully operated summer instructional sites for boys, The LPGA-USGA Girls Golf program, U.S. Kids Southeast Michigan Junior Tour and the Golfademics Junior Tour. This year we initiated The Golfademics winter academy in association with Miles of Golf and The Dave Kendall Academy of Golf.
175 boys and girls participated in instructional programs in Washtenaw and Lenawee County We had 116 kids from five states and two countries participate on The U.S. Kids Local Tour and 25 youth participated on The Fall Tour. In addition we conducted skills challenges, clinics and two parent-child activity events.
This was a year of excellent program growth, personal accomplishments and the opportunity to witness young kids taking their instructions to the competitive level with great success and pride.
We were honored at the seventy fifth (75) Ann Arbor Women’s Golf Association Banquet. The United States Golf Association provided us with two tickets to The 2007 U.S. Open (Oakmont Country Club) in Pittsburgh, PA. We will use proceeds to further our program outreach, fundraising and scholarships.
I had the distinct pleasure of being chosen as one of the tournament directors for this year's U.S. Kids Junior World Championship held in Pinehurst North Carolina. This involved 964 boys and girls, from 34 countries and five continents in age competition. Eight youth from out tour participated and their successes were noteworthy. | Michigan Junior Golfademics is a non-profit organization whose mission is to ensure all youth have access to golf instruction, equipment, tournaments, and educational programs. Our programs are open to all youth in SE Michigan with instructional programs primarily in Washtenaw and Lenawee Counties. We are supported by the USGA and LPGA through matching grants, but without public support we cannot exist. This year we will provide services to over 200 boys and girls through our initiatives. |
