Alyssa Getty of Leamington, Ontario, a Michigan Golfademics Junior Tour golfer, recently celebrated her 10th birthday with a fundraiser for a fellow young golfer, Landon Orsi.

Alyssa invited her entire grade 4 class from Ruthven Public School to her birthday party at Empire Lanes Bowling Alley and asked that instead of bringing birthday gifts for her, they make a donation in honour of her friend, Landon.

Landon Orsi, 7, is a young golfer Alyssa met last summer at a Parent- Child golf tournament at Woodland Hills in Woodslee, Ontario. Landon has been diagnosed with Lymphangioma, a life-threatening disease.

Through the support of her classmates and family at her birthday party, Alyssa was able to make a $515 donation to Landon’s family at Woodland Hills Golf Club last weekend.

A fundraiser was held for Landon and his family at Woodland Hills, and along with Alyssa’s donation, the ticket and raffle sales raised over $ 2,000 for the Orsi’s. The family, which has three other children, has been traveling between London, Ontario and Montreal for Landon’s treatments and they are awaiting word to go to Boston for further treatment of Landon’s illness.
